Difference with Summer 1955 season:

Consist changed by:

- adding the Great Dome Lounge in October 1955 completing the new Incomparable Great Dome Empire Builder consist.

- adding the 6-4-1 Lounge Observation Car to replace the Mountain Series Observation Car and a 6-5-2 Chicago-Seattle-Chicago Sleeping Car.

- taking one 46-Seat Great Dome Coach, Line 101/201, Chicago-Seattle-Chicago off for the season.

- taking one 4-7-3-1 Sleeping Car, Line 11/21, Chicago-Portland-Chicago off for the season.

- swapping the Ranch Car with the Coffee Shop-Dinette-Dormitory Car (GN 1140-1144+1148) from the Western Star. Due to a public outcry this was not repeated in following years.

 

Notes:

1) Seattle - St. Paul Mail Storage Car was not carried on Saturdays & Sundays.

2) Until July 31, 1956 power on the Wenatchee - Skykomish section consisted of Class W or Y Electrics. Thereafter diesels ran through to Seattle.

The 16-4 Sleeping Car was not included in the westbound consist leaving Spokane on Saturday nights.
