1) The 3rd 46-Seat Great Dome Coach was not used to replace the Line 103-203 Chicago-Portland-Chicago Coach but was instead added between the Sleeping Cars to give those passengers an opportunity to also use dome seats.
2) The exact location of the Line 33 Spokane-Seattle Sleeping Car in this consist is unknown. The location shown would make sense considering the switching done in Spokane.
3) Until July 31, 1956 power on the Wenatchee - Skykomish section consisted of Class W or Y Electrics. Thereafter diesels ran through to Seattle.

Difference with Summer 1961 season:
The 1962 Empire Builder consist was the longest ever due to increased passenger volumes caused by the Seattle World's Fair.
Consist changed by:
- Adding Line 314-324 Chicago-Seattle-Chicago 4-7-3-1 Sleeping Car to meet the extra sleeping car passengers to the Seattle World's Fair.
- Adding Line X103-X203 Chicago-Seattle-Chicago, an extra 48-Seat Day-Nite Coach or 46-Seat Great Dome Coach assigned as needed to meet Fair coach reservations.
- During July and August additional sleeping cars were added carrying tour passengers to the Fair, usually between Line 316-326 and 317-327.
1) Seattle - St. Paul Mail Storage Car was not carried on Saturdays & Sundays.
2) Line X103-X203 was an extra coach assigned as needed to meet Fair coach reservations.

1) Seattle - St. Paul Mail Storage Car was not carried on Saturdays & Sundays.
2) Spokane - Seattle 16-4 Sleeping Car did not run on Saturday nights.
3) Line 316-326 was renumbered as Line 314-324 after the 1963 Summer Season.
4) Line 315-325 was assigned a remodeled 7-6-1 'River' Series Sleeping Car.
