Much of the revenue generated on the Great Northern came
from its freight operations. An ever adopting policy of keeping up with new or
changed traffic flows, by adding new or specialized equipment and fine-tuning
day-to-day operations, made sure the Great Northern was always ready to serve
its customers. This section will highlight these freight operations, the commodities carried,
traffic patterns, etc.
